What does your August 2010 vote represent?


This is the three county property tax for the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) called Proposal S. This covers all of Macomb and parts of Wayne and Oakland counties in the state of Michigan.

  • The property tax remains the same. The needs of the elderly, handicapped and the low income are protected by existing laws.

  • SMART or equivalent must prevail as the provider for community transit under federal funding guidelines.

  • The state tax on fuel under ACT 51 must be both restored and protected for existing public bus service.


Vote NO, if you want to protect state funds for existing public bus service


You agree to the restoration of state fuel taxes and competent utilization of local funds to pay for existing public bus service as in the picture

  • The SMART property tax and the increase is approved, if requested.

  • This tax allows the Michigan Department of Transportation to shift funds away from SMART without first providing equivalent alternatives as defined by federal acts for transit grants.

  • This renewal is a prerequisite to replace state funds with illegitimate tax mechanisms and increases.


Vote YES, if you want a tax shift from state fuel to property to pay for existing public bus service


You agree to spend $2 Billion Dollars to widen the freeway in the picture with the same money that used to pay for public bus service in Livonia and Detroit before November 2006
